Sanyo Trading places “reducing environmental impact” as one of its Materiality and expressed its support for the Recommendations of the TCFD※ in December 2022.
Under the TCFD recommendations, Sanyo Trading will assess climate change risks and opportunities to incorporate the assessment into its management strategies while promoting disclosure.
※TCFD: Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures
TCFD is founded by the Financial Stability Board (FSB) at the request of the G20 in 2015.
The TCFD recommends businesses to evaluate the financial impact that climate-related risks and opportunities have on their management and disclose matters on governance, strategy, risk management, metrics, and targets.
The following is our major environmental initiatives.
Sanyo Trading actively uses epoxidized natural rubber, an environmentally friendly material, and next-generation materials, including Carbon Neat, a plant-derived material. We also actively work to offer environmentally friendly ISCC PLUS certified products of Perstorp based on the mass balance concept. In addition, we work to develop products that will substitute agricultural chemicals to reduce environmental impact.
Sanyo Trading works to provide woody biomass power generation equipment (gasification combined heat and power unit), which will contribute to effective use of forest resources, decarbonization, local generation of energy for local consumption and revitalization of local economies, which are characteristic of a recycling-oriented society.
Geothermal power, which is not affected by weather and can provide stable power throughout the year, is attracting attention as completely domestic, valuable renewable energy.
Sanyo Trading contributes to the promotion of geothermal power development by providing technology and equipment for high temperature drilling.
Sanyo Trading also works to provide #tide, high quality recycled plastic products that are made from 100% ocean bound plastic (OBP), which causes the marine plastic waste issue.
Sanyo Trading contributes to climate change initiatives, such as determining greenhouse gas emissions, by providing gas analyzers and stable isotope ratio analyzers.
Sanyo Trading has endorsed the Keidanren Initiative for Biodiversity Conservation. Initiatives to pass down rich marine ecosystems to the next generation using marine equipment handled by the Cosmos Shoji, a Group company, are introduced.
